34 Weeks and The Nursery

My goodness, I just looked at the date of my last post and do not know where the time has gone! I really wanted to be more consistent with this blogging thing and will try much harder to work on it. So, I am 34 weeks, YAY!! Actually, I will be 35 weeks on Wednesday. Can you believe I've made it this far because I certainly can't? I at least thought if I did make it, I would be chained to my bed unable to walk. But not yet. I'm still getting around. Not that I'm doing a whole lot. I can be up and around for a couple of hours and then I'm exhausted for the rest of the day. Biggest complaint: body aches. These babies must be sucking everything they possibly can out of me (which is perfectly fine) because I have never had achy pains like I am having now. During the night when I am awake (which is majority fo the night these days) I can barely move my fingers they hurt so bad. Other than that, the girls are still rockin' along. They move a little less than they used to but my doctor said it is because they just don't have the room in there.

A couple of weeks ago I was having some pretty bad cramping one night. I called my doc the next morning just to let her know and she made me go into Labor & Delivery to get monitored. For some reason, I was very scared to do that, mostly because I was going by myself. It was in the middle of the day and Andrew was over an hour away and about to walk into a meeting. I assured him I would be fine to go by myself, even though I secretly did not want to AT ALL! But everything ended up being fine. The doctor checked my cervix and it was good....no babies coming anytime soon.

Girls are now weighing over 4 lbs. each. It is so hard to believe that I have about 9 lbs. of baby in me right now. Not to mention two placentas and extra fluid! Charlotte is breech and Caroline is head down. At our last appointment, everything was looking good. My doctor did want me to gain a little more weight, which I did my switching to whole milk and eating gigantic cinnamon rolls for breakfast twice a week. Yes, I know you want to gain healthy weight but that just wasn't cutting it for me. Healthiness just doesn't put the pounds on. For twins, they say you should gain 35-50 pounds. I guess my doctor has me on the 50 lbs. track! My doctor is scheduling my c-section for March 24th or the 25th......OMG, that is less than 3 weeks away! We are getting really excited and maybe just a tiny bit scared, but mostly excited. Of course the babies could decide to come before then. Since I am almost at 35 weeks and the girls are getting closer to 5 lbs. each, we should be getting clear of them going to the NICU. If we do make it to 36 or 37 weeks, more than likely they will not go. That is the most wonderful news ever.

We have been working on getting everything ready for the girls arrival. With some help from the in-laws, Andrew's parents and brother and his wife, we were able to get the nursery put together and finished! And I am loving it! I think we accomplished the clean and calming feeling I was going for. I love the mix of antiques with new pieces. Here are a few pics...

The cedar chest belonged to Andrew's great-grandmother and Andrew's grandmother had it redone and painted antique white for the girls....love it! The four pictures over the dresser came from a children's book that belonged to Andrew's great-grandmother (different great-grandmother than the chest) and was given to her from her grandparents in England. The little framed gloves on the shelf belonged to my mother when she was a little girl and the little baby shoes were mine! These are my favorite pieces in the room because they came from our families. We found the dresser on Craigslist and Andrew refinished it and painted it himself. I was so proud of him because that was his first DIY project. I added some Anthropologie knobs and I think it came out great. It is from the 1930's which is the same time period as the chest. The pictures do not do the bedding justice but it is beautiful. The bumper is a very light grey that actually has a hint of pink to it. The silk sheets are light grey and the crib skirt is a light pink linen with flowers embroided on it. The duvet covers hanging over the cribs are white linen and from my mother. I started my nursery inspiration with the wallpaper on the ceiling. I wanted to do something different and I think we accomplished that. It's the only yellow in the room but I think it blends so well with grey and pink. I'm hoping the girls will enjoy staring up at it when they are laying in their cribs.

Here's where the babies will sleep for the first couple of months in our room.

A pic of my double stroller! Oh, I can't wait to take them for a walk around the block. I am so happy with the time of year the girls will be born because it's actually a great season for Texas...not too hot yet! We are going to be outside everyday.

Only things left to do are pack my hospital bag and get the carseats in the car. Definitely need to do that this week just in case!

To end this post.....my new favorite pregnant drink

It could be I love it so much because the only thing I drink all day and night is water and anything that has some sort of flavor to it is wonderful to me but really, this drink is good.
